Rowan's First Bike Trip! Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail
Nat and I loaded up the Pathfinder with as much biking and camping gear as we could fit to head down to the Sakatah Lake Singing Hills State Park. There is a 40 mile long bike trail that runs through park connecting some rural towns in southern Minnesota. The lake and trail was beautiful and the the forest was too, but the mosquitoes were TERRIBLE! Swarms so thick that we couldn't be outside unless we were moving on a bike. Good thing we packed the mosquito-free box net!
The week before, we had purchased a fancy Burley D'lite Trailer with suspension to give little ones growing body an easier ride. Word had it that it had shown up at the bike shop that morning. By the time we picked it up and got everything together, it was after lunch time, so we hit the road and unpacked as soon as we got there. Anwen rode on her trail-a-bike and Rowan in the trailer for a couple hours of exploring the trail before dinner. They had a blast but it was so late that we doubled back, cooked and ate, and went right to bed.
The next day was a blast. After b-fast we hit the trail hard. Only stopping for a quick snack (re: mosquitoes) we enjoyed the scenery and excersize and made it to Elysian for lunch. after a little dip in the lake, we pedaled a few more miles before heading back to make dinner, trying to avoid another late night. Stopping only at BW's Bike Shop for a rest (they are super nice folks! check out their shop) we made it back and Nat and I were so beat from carrying the kids that we had to hit the showers and call it a night. Besides, we had to be up at 7 am so Nat could get to work by 9! (we made it on time...)

Rowan's First Steps (on his own!)
We had a little camp out in the back yard and Rowan got to see fire for the first time. He was so impressed that he willed himself to walk a few of his first steps!

Almost Nine Months Catch-Up!
Well, we've all been super busy, and its been awhile since we've posted pictures, so 'bear' with us while we play catch up before Rowan's 9th month!!
Since March he's learned to sit up, stand, crawl, and even take a couple of steps. He loves peek-a-boo, and even figured out how to play with us, by holding a blanket up in front of him!
When not tired, hungry, or bonking his head, Rowan is such a happy little baby, playing outside, helping in the garden, chasing the dog and cat around, playing peek-a-boo with his sister, and enjoying being alive and exploring this world he's in. We are all so happy to have him in our lives. We love you Ro-ro!
Soooooo, check older posts, cause we're back dating them to when the photos were taken.

April 2013
Rowan got his first stand up play center, complete with farm theme, to help him practice standing up without bonking his head. He immediately loved it and has been building his leg muscles non-stop.
Nat and Rowan went to Wisconsin to visit our friends with a farm and his 'Auntie' Allie who has a baby of similar age, Imogene.
Now that the snow has thawed, baby Rowan got to experience the outdoors as a place of growth and abundance. Yay!
